Where does it grow?
Prunus serotina grows in the United States from Ontario to Florida and from Dakota to Texas; in Mexico and Guatemala; different sorts of cheery grow then in Europe in mixed forests.

Look
Eggshell rosy sapwood is visibly divided from heartwood, which grows to darker red-brown colour with narrow brown heart flecks. Its funiculus is even and texture fine and regular.

Qualities
Its compactness is 610 kg/m3 when dried, it shows medium form stability and it is very good for bending. Manual and machine working are very good. The joints keep well, it is good for gluing and lacquering and medium durable. This wood is often peeled to plywood or cut to decorative veener, it is suitable for wood-carving and statuary.
